Hello there
I’m Sarah Lang, and with the nickname “Slang”, how could I not become a writer? And I am: an award-winning journalist, an experienced copywriter, a first-rate researcher, and editor extraordinaire.
I’ve been playing with words since age five, when my typewritten story about a floppy disc won a prize in a Wanganui writing competition. At about seven, I realised journalism meant you could meet interesting people and write for a living. I was sold.
After working at North & South magazine for four years, since 2008, I’ve been freelancing for magazines including North & South, Canvas, NEXT, Capital, Your Weekend, the Herald on Sunday’s magazines View and Detours and Living magazines, the Reader’s Digest, Sunday, Good, NZ House & Garden, Your Home & Garden, Kia Ora (Air NZ’s in-flight magazine), international magazine Monocle, and online magazine The Spinoff. See my work as Capital’s books and culture writer at capitalmag.com, and check out a selection of my stories on this site. I’m currently Feature Writer for NZ online magazine Capsule – see my articles at capsulenz.com/author/sarahlang.
Got your Sarah La(i)ngs mixed up? So did our dentist. Here’s a story that will clear that up.
